The address comes first
A Minnetonka address does not establish one school district. Hopkins Public Schools serves portions of Minnetonka, and Wayzata Public Schools also lists Minnetonka among its communities. Minnetonka Public Schools provides its own address-based boundary tool. Verify the actual residence through the responsible district before relying on a school assignment.
Use district tools
Minnetonka Public Schools provides an address-based boundary tool and advises families to verify the designated district and schools before signing a binding agreement. Hopkins Public Schools likewise provides a SchoolSearch tool and boundary map. Wayzata’s enrollment site offers school-finding and registration information. Save the result and ask the enrollment office to resolve any uncertainty.
Separate residence from enrollment options
An assigned attendance area and an application to another school are different matters. Ask the district about the relevant process, timing and availability. Do not assume that a transfer or open-enrollment request will be accepted, or that a previous owner’s arrangement applies to a new household.
Compare current information
Review the programs and support relevant to your student directly with the school. An archived graduation rate, ACT average or commercial ranking is not a current description of a school. Ask about current course offerings, enrollment requirements and the supports relevant to your student.
