Outdoor choices around Wayzata
Shaver Park
The city lists a walking path, picnic areas, grills, sand volleyball and the historic Trapper’s Cabin at Shaver Park, 220 Grove Lane East. It describes the park as adjacent to the beach and marina and a Dakota Rail trailhead. Check the specific facility information for the activity you plan.
The trail and the Lakewalk
The paved Dakota Rail Regional Trail follows a former rail corridor through Wayzata and other communities. The operator displayed closure and detour notices during review, so check conditions before setting out. Panoway’s Lakewalk is a separate waterfront feature completed in June 2024.
Confirm access and conditions
A nearby beach or marina does not guarantee open swimming, available rental equipment or free docking. Use the city’s Parks and Trails resources and the operator’s current notices for the exact destination. Where mobility or accessibility matters, confirm the route and facilities directly rather than relying on a general description.
