Mainland, island and trail outings in Orono
A mainland park
Bederwood Park is listed at 55 Stubbs Bay Road South with play equipment, ballfields, picnic tables, parking and a portable toilet. Field reservations follow a separate process. Check the city’s current facility information for the activity you are planning.
An island preserve
Big Island Nature Park occupies 56 acres on the eastern portion of Big Island, with trails and docks. The city prohibits overnight camping, fires and alcohol and requires permits for large-group activity. These rules do not make all island shoreline public or replace a complete visit-planning check.
A regional route
The Dakota Rail Regional Trail passes through Orono. Consult its operator’s closure and detour notices before planning an uninterrupted ride. Distinguish regional facilities from city parks and use the responsible operator’s rules. A park in Orono, Maine, or Orono Park in Elk River is not an amenity in this Minnesota community.
