Why an Orono address needs a school check
City and district boundaries differ
Orono Schools ISD 278 serves all or parts of several communities, including Orono and Minnetonka Beach. The city’s 2020–2040 public-services plan identifies parts of Orono, Westonka, Wayzata and Minnetonka school districts within city geography. That planning description should guide questions, not replace a current address check.
The Orono Schools sequence
The district lists Schumann Elementary for K–2, Intermediate for grades 3–5, Middle for grades 6–8 and High for grades 9–12. This sequence applies within the relevant enrollment arrangement; it is not a whole-city assignment guarantee.
Confirm before relying on a listing
Orono’s enrollment office requires address validation and warns that rental or realty listings can be wrong. Ask the responsible district to confirm assignment, documentation and transportation. Open enrollment is an application process, not automatic eligibility from a home purchase or mailing address. Check current programs directly and avoid relying on archived rankings or awards.
